Prahlada and Hiranyakashipu Chapter 6 — The Arrival of Narasimha Avatar. When Hiranyakashipu makes a final attempt to kill Prahlada, Lord Vishnu appears in the Narasimha Avatar and kills him.

Arrival of Narasimha Avatar

In the previous chapter, Hiranyakashipu's anger had reached its peak. He could not tolerate Prahlad's devotion to Vishnu at all and was repeatedly trying to kill his son. Every time, Prahlad was saved by the grace of Lord Vishnu, which further increased Hiranyakashipu's ego. Now he was ready to give his son a final challenge, to see if Vishnu is really omnipresent as Prahlad claims.

The Final Challenge

Hiranyakashipu's court was filled with anger and fear. His eyes were red, and his voice was filled with venom. Prahlad stood calm and steady before his father, his eyes reflecting unwavering faith in Lord Vishnu. Even the air seemed to have stopped, everyone knew that something big was going to happen today. The shine of the soldiers' weapons and the whispers of the courtiers were further enhancing that terrible peace.

"Prahlad!" Hiranyakashipu roared, "You say that your Vishnu is present everywhere? Is he even in this pillar?" Prahlad replied fearlessly, "Yes father, my Vishnu is present in every particle. He is everywhere, even in this pillar." Hiranyakashipu struck the pillar with his mace in anger and said, "If your Vishnu is in this pillar, then let him come out now. I want to see how he defeats me!"

Appearance from the Pillar

As soon as Hiranyakashipu struck the pillar, there was a terrible roar. The earth began to tremble, and lightning flashed in the sky. A wonderful creature appeared from the pillar - half man and half lion. This form of Lord Narasimha was amazing and terrifying. His face was that of a lion, and his body was that of a man. His eyes were like burning fire, and his roar echoed throughout the universe.

The appearance of Lord Narasimha was a symbol of the wonderful grace of Lord Vishnu. He had assumed this form to protect his devotee Prahlad and to destroy sin from the earth. This incarnation was a clear indication of the establishment of Dharma and the destruction of unrighteousness. As soon as he saw the form of Lord Narasimha, Hiranyakashipu's ego and pride of strength were shattered.

The Killing of Hiranyakashipu

Lord Narasimha caught Hiranyakashipu in a single leap. He took him to the door frame, which was neither inside the house nor outside. He laid Hiranyakashipu on his thighs and killed him with his sharp nails. This killing happened neither during the day nor at night; neither on earth nor in the sky. In this way, Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakashipu without violating Brahmaji's boon, in which he had received the boon of not being killed by any human or animal, neither during the day nor at night, neither inside the house nor outside. With the killing of Hiranyakashipu, peace spread throughout the world. The gods showered flowers and hailed Prahlad. Now the next chapter will be about Prahlad's rule and peace.

Summary of Chapter 6: In this chapter, we saw how Hiranyakashipu gave Prahlad the final challenge and Lord Narasimha appeared. Lord Narasimha established Dharma by killing Hiranyakashipu and protected his devotee Prahlad. From this chapter, we learn that God always protects his devotees, and the end of ego is always destructive.
