Facing Trials and Tribulations

In the previous chapter, the devotee invoked the grace of Kalabhairava with utmost devotion and faith. His call had reached the divine, but the divine's play is immeasurable. Sometimes, to test the devotee, the Lord opens doors of suffering, through which the devotee's devotion becomes even more radiant. In this chapter, we will see how obstacles and crises appeared before the devotee, and how he faced them with his unwavering faith and patience.

The Web of Calamities

After the devotee's prayers, just as he saw a ray of hope for peace and prosperity in his life, his trials suddenly began. First, the clouds of crisis loomed over his livelihood, earned through years of hard work. His business suffered heavy losses, putting all his savings at stake. Along with this, illnesses started entering the home one by one. First his wife fell ill, then his children. The expenses for medicines and doctors increased so much that there was barely enough to eat at home. He was gripped by despair and hopelessness from all sides, as if God himself was displeased with him.

He thought to himself, "O Lord! I had only taken refuge in You, I was immersed in Your devotion. Is this the fruit of my devotion? How will I overcome so much suffering? Have my prayers been in vain?" Tears flowed from his eyes, but the name of Shri Bhairava remained on his tongue, just as it was.

The Flame of Unwavering Faith

Amidst all these crises, the devotee did not give up. There was fear in his heart, but his faith in Kalabhairava did not waver even a bit. He knew that these trials were not meant to break him, but to make him purer and stronger. He began to perform his daily prayers and fasts with even greater devotion. In every moment of suffering, he would look at the image of Shri Bhairava and implore them for patience and strength. His unwavering faith took the form of a slow, yet radiant flame, guiding him through every dark moment.

He would tell himself, "The God who is with me will rescue me from every crisis. This is a trial by fire for me, and I will emerge victorious. The grace of Shri Bhairava will always be upon me."

The Lord's Test and Revelation

Lord Bhairava was watching this test of his devotee with a discerning eye. He knew that the devotee's devotion was true, but he wanted to make him even more radiant through this trial. One night, when the devotee was lost in deep worry, he had a dream. In the dream, he saw Lord Bhairava himself, in his fierce yet compassionate form, standing before him. There was a gentle smile on his face. He said to the devotee, "O my beloved devotee, this is the time of your test. Your faith must remain steadfast. I have given you these sufferings, but I will also show you the way to overcome them. This crisis is the fruit of your past karma, but your devotion will cut through it."

Just by this assurance and the vision of the divine form of Lord Bhairava, the devotee experienced a unique peace. He felt as if the entire burden of his inner self had been lightened. This was not just a test, but also the Lord's affection and compassion, leading him towards a new direction.
