Bhasmasura Vadh Katha – Chapter 5: Victory and Divine Order

Victory and Divine Order
Bhasmasur was mesmerized by Mohini's enchanting dance and clever deception. Intoxicated by his own power, he did not even realize that he was heading towards his own destruction. His end was now near, and the ray of hope for the gods began to strengthen.
Bhasmasur's Final Arrogance
As soon as Mohini made him place his hand on his own head, Bhasmasur's body was engulfed in a fierce flame. His eyes widened with fear and surprise. He realized his mistake, but it was too late. The flames of fire began to burn him from within, turning his powerful body into a pile of ashes. His terrible scream echoed throughout the atmosphere, symbolizing his foolishness and destruction.
"What... what is happening?" Bhasmasur screamed, his voice filled with pain and despair. "Mohini! What have you done? I desired you!" His words turned to ash, all his power and arrogance consumed in an instant.
Praise of the Gods
As Bhasmasur's body turned to ashes, the gods in heaven rejoiced with victory cries. They rose from their respective places and began to praise Lord Vishnu. Their hearts were filled with gratitude, as they had witnessed the establishment of Dharma before their very eyes. Drums and trumpets sounded, and celestial dancers began their divine performance. An atmosphere of peace and harmony spread in all directions.
Indra, with folded hands, said, "O Vishnu, your divine play is immeasurable! You have protected the gods and Dharma by slaying Bhasmasur in your Mohini form. Victory be yours!" The other gods also praised Vishnu in unison, "Victory to Vishnu! Victory to Mohini!"
Restoration of Dharma
With the end of Bhasmasur, Dharma was re-established in the world. Sages and ascetics, who had hidden in the forests out of fear, returned to their hermitages. They resumed chanting Vedic mantras, and the fires of yajnas were lit. Hope and faith were rekindled in the hearts of the people. Lord Shiva was also pleased, as the one who misused the power he had granted had met his end. He blessed the divine play of Vishnu and Mohini.
Lord Shiva said, "Vishnu, what you have done to protect Dharma will always be remembered. This form of yours, Mohini, will teach the world that arrogance and the misuse of power are always destructive. Victory to Dharma!"
Summary of Chapter 5: In this chapter, we saw how Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini, slew Bhasmasur, and established Dharma. This story teaches us that the consequence of arrogance and the misuse of power is always destructive, and God is always present to protect Dharma.
