Purushottam Mas Katha: Adhyaya 8 | पुरुषोत्तम मास कथा: अध्याय 8

Sutji said, 'O ascetic! After listening to the conversation between Vishnu and Shri Krishna, the satisfied-minded Narada again began to question Narayana. Naradji said, 'O Lord! What happened after Vishnu went to Baikunth? Tell me. The conversation between Adipurusha Krishna and Harisuta is beneficial to all living beings.

Hearing this question, Lord Badrinarayan again began to tell the great story that gives joy to the world.
Shrinarayan said, 'After that, Vishnu went to Baikunth very happily and after going there, O Narada! He settled Adhimas near him. Adhimas was very happy to get residence in Baikunth and became the king of the twelve months and started living with Vishnu. Vishnu was satisfied in his mind by making Malmas the best among the twelve months.

O Muni! After that, the Lord, who is kind to his devotees, looked at Yudhishthira and Draupadi and said this to Arjuna with kindness.'

Shri Krishna said, 'O Rajashardul! It seems to us that after coming to the Tapovan, you people have not respected Purushottam Maas because of being sad. Purushottam Maas, the beloved of the Lord, the lord of the beauty of Vrindavan, has passed by you forest dwellers due to negligence. You all, with minds terrified by the fear of Bhishma, Dronacharya, and Karna, did not pay attention to the Purushottam Maas you received because you were free from fear and hatred.

You people, who were distressed by the separation of the brave Arjuna, who was engaged in the worship of the knowledge received from Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasadeva, did not know Purushottam Maas. Now if you ask what should we do? So I will say that take the support of fate. Men always see what their unseen is like. The fruit that arises from fate must be enjoyed. Happiness, sorrow, fear, well-being etc. are attained by men according to their fate. Therefore, you people who believe in the unseen should depend on the unseen.

Now after this, we will tell you another reason for your sorrow along with a very surprising history, 'O Maharaj! Listen to what is said from our mouth.

Shri Krishna said, 'This fortunate Draupadi was born in the house of a very beautiful and intelligent sage in her previous birth. As time passed, when she turned 10 years old, she gradually became very beautiful and attractive, adorned with beauty and attractive eyes. Endowed with the quality of cleverness, she was the only daughter of her father. Therefore, being clever, virtuous, and beautiful, she was very dear to her father.

Medhavi always treated her like a boy, never disrespected her. She was also a scholar in literature and proficient in ethics. Her mother had died when she was young, and her father had happily raised her. Seeing the happiness of the sons and grandsons of her friend living nearby, she also became eager, and then she started thinking about how we will also get this happiness? How will I have a husband who is a treasure of virtue and fortune, and good sons?

Thinking about this wish, she started thinking that my marriage was present earlier, but fate spoiled it. Now what should I do or what should I know and by worshiping which deity or by taking refuge of which sage or by taking shelter of which pilgrimage will my wish be fulfilled. How has my fate fallen asleep that no husband chooses me.

My father, who is a scholar, has also become a fool due to my misfortune, it is a great surprise! Even when the time of marriage has come, my father has not given me a groom like me. I am prominent among my friends, but I am suffering from husband's sorrow because I am unmarried. I am not like my friends who enjoy husband's happiness. Why did my fortunate mother die earlier? In this way, the girl, disturbed by worry, drowned in the water of the form of Moha in the ocean of the form of desire, and was afflicted by the waves of the form of sorrow and Moha. Her father Medhavi Rishi also went to travel to different countries to find a groom similar to his daughter for the sake of giving her away, but he was disappointed in his wish because he could not find a groom suitable for his daughter.

Due to the non-fulfillment of the resolution of giving the daughter in marriage due to the fate of the daughter and himself, a very terrible fever came to him due to fate. All the limbs started bursting like all the limbs would break and separate and being disturbed by the flames of fever, taking breaths, staggering like being intoxicated by drinking alcohol due to Mahadarun fainting, somehow falling and stumbling, he came home and fell on the ground as soon as he came.

By the time the girl came to see her father, terrified, Medhavi Muni, remembering the girl, was about to die. He suddenly started trembling due to the force of the fruit of fate and the festival that had arisen from the context of giving the daughter in marriage was gone.

After that, giving up the desire for the world due to the effect of the hard work of the householder's religion done earlier, he started focusing his mind on God. That dying Medhavi Rishi immediately remembered Shri Purushottam Hari, who was dark like a blue lotus, with a beautiful figure with three folds, O Lord of Ras! O Radharaman! O you who kill the enemies of the gods, the demons, from afar with your fierce arms! O you who drink the extremely fierce forest fire! O you who steal the clothes taken off by the unmarried Gopis! O Shri Krishna! O Govind! O Hare! O Murare! O Radhesh! O Damodar! O Dinanath! Protect me who is immersed in this world. I bow to you, the Lord of the senses.

Hearing the words of Medhavi from afar, the messengers of Shri Bhagwan came quickly from Mukund Lok and took that dead Muni by the hand to the lotus feet of God.

Seeing her father's life leaving in this way, the girl started crying loudly and placing her father's body in her lap, she started lamenting with great sorrow. After lamenting for a long time like a kite bird, she became very sad and considering her father as alive, she spoke.

The girl said, 'Alas, alas, O father! O ocean of mercy! O you who give happiness to your daughter! To whom have you left me today and departed for Baikunth? O father! Who will protect me, who is fatherless? Today I have no brother, relative, mother etc. O father! Who will worry about my food and clothes? How will I live in your house like this empty, deserted forest without the sound of Vedas. O best of sages! Now I will die, what is the point of living like this?

Saying this, all the ascetics became silent and, deciding that 'this is the voice of Medhavi Rishi's daughter', they came to Medhavi's house, agitated and crying. And after coming there, everyone saw the dead Medhavi Rishi in the girl's lap and seeing him, all the sages living in that forest also started crying.

Taking the dead body from the girl's lap, they went to the crematorium near the Shiva temple. There, after setting up a pyre of wood, they performed the last rites according to the rules and cremated him. After the cremation, after explaining to the girl, all the sages went to their respective ashrams. Here, the girl also spent money for the rituals as much as she could, holding patience.

In this way, after performing the death rituals of her father, the girl started living in the same Tapovan and being burnt by the fire of sorrow in the form of her father's death, she was afflicted like Rambha and just as a cow cries when its calf dies and does not eat and becomes weak, this girl also became sad.
