The Journey of Exile

The joy of Sita and Ram's marriage was still lingering in the city of Ayodhya when fate took an unexpected turn. Maharaj Dashrath decided to make Ram the Yuvaraj, and the entire populace rejoiced. However, destiny had something else in store, and a great crisis was about to befall Ayodhya.

Kaikeyi's Wrath

Manthara, Kaikeyi's maid, was filled with venom. She incited Kaikeyi, saying that Ram becoming king would cast a shadow over her son Bharat's future. Kaikeyi's mind was swayed by Manthara's poisonous words. On the eve of the coronation, Kaikeyi, filled with rage, entered Maharaj Dashrath's chamber. The flames of vengeance blazed in her eyes, and harshness was clearly visible on her face. The atmosphere of joy in Ayodhya suddenly turned grim and terrifying. Everyone was worried, thinking about how Kaikeyi's conspiracy would unfold.

Kaikeyi said to the Maharaj, "O King, do you remember that you had promised to grant me two boons? Now I want those boons. My first boon is that Bharat be made the king of Ayodhya, and the second is that Ram be sent to exile for fourteen years."

Ram Accepts Exile

Maharaj Dashrath fainted upon hearing Kaikeyi's harsh words. When he regained consciousness, he was groaning in pain. Ram, respecting his father's integrity, was ready to gladly accept Kaikeyi's boons. He bowed his head before Mother Kaikeyi and said, "Mother, your wish will be fulfilled. I will go into exile for fourteen years. For me, truth and obeying my father's command are paramount." Everyone was astonished to see Ram's sacrifice and devotion to truth. He renounced the kingdom without any protest and accepted exile.

Sita, Ram's better half, considered everything Ram said as her duty. She decided to accompany Ram even in exile. Her love was so deep and unwavering that she could not even imagine living in the royal palace of Ayodhya without Ram. Sita's decision was a symbol of her courage, love, and devotion.

Sita and Lakshman's Companionship

Ram explained to Sita that the life of exile would be full of hardships, but Sita remained firm in her decision. Lakshman was also ready to go to the forest with his brother Ram to show his loyalty. Ram, Sita, and Lakshman bid farewell to the people of Ayodhya and set off towards the forest. Ayodhya was plunged into grief by their departure. With Ram's exile, the stage was also set for Sita's abduction. Many kinds of difficulties and demons in the forest were ready to confront them, and the journey ahead was going to be formidable.
