Purushottam Maas Katha: Adhyaya 12 | पुरुषोत्तम मास कथा: अध्याय 12
This story is based on the greatness of Purushottam Maas and the teachings of Lord Krishna. Naradji asked the Lord what happened to the ascetic girl when Shivji left. Shri Krishna told that the girl drowned in sorrow and died, but after that the righteous king Yagyasen performed a Yagya, from which Draupadi was born. The atrocities committed on Draupadi and the subsequent help by Krishna are described. Shri Krishna told the Pandavas the importance of Purushottam Maas and the Pandavas fasted in this month, which ultimately led to them attaining the kingdom.
Naradji said, 'When Lord Shankar left, O Lord! What did that girl do in sorrow! Tell me, the humble one, for the attainment of Dharma.
Shri Narayan said, 'In the same way, King Yudhishthira had asked Lord Krishna, so listen to what the Lord said to the king.
Shri Krishna said, 'O Rajan! When Shivji left in this way, that girl was affected and taking long breaths, very scared and that emaciated woman started crying with tears. That ascetic girl, whose limbs were burning with the flames rising from the fire of the heart, became like a vine with leaves burnt by the forest fire.
A lot of time passed for that girl who had attained sorrow and jealousy. Just as a snake enters a rat's burrow and subdues it by attacking, in the same way, the aforementioned deplorable state was attacked by that Lord Kaal on that ascetic girl and subdued her. Just as lightning flashes and disappears in the sky covered with clouds in the rainy season, in the same way that girl, whose sins were burnt by penance, died in her ashram.
At the same time, a righteous king named Yagyasen performed an excellent Yagya with great materials. A girl with a complexion like gold was born from that Yagya Kund. The same Kumari became famous in the world by the name of Drupadraj's daughter. The one who was earlier the daughter of a meritorious sage became famous in all the worlds by the name Draupadi. In the same Swayamvar, by piercing the fish, Arjuna found Panchali in the agitated Rajmandal, making many kings like Bhishma Karna equal to straw.
O Muni! The same Draupadi was dragged by the hair by the wicked Dushasan and was told words that tore her heart. Because of neglecting Purushottam, I also ignored her. When she started loving me and constantly taking my name.
O Damodar! O ocean of mercy! O Krishna! O Lord of the world! O Nath Ramanath! O Keshav! O destroyer of sorrows! I have no mother, father, brothers, friends, sisters, nephews, relatives, loved ones, husband etc. O Hrishikesh! You are everything to me. O Govind! O Gopikanath! Friend of the poor! Treasure of mercy! Don't you know me who has been attacked by Dushasan.
Although I did not pay attention to her in the first call, but when she was defeated by Dushasan and remembered me again, then riding on Garuda, I quickly reached there and filled her with many clothes, O Rajan!
Always loving me, whose life is me, always devoted to my worship, my most beloved, chaste, friend, even though I am like my life, I had to ignore her because of neglecting Purushottam. I cause the downfall of the one who insults Purushottam.
This Purushottam is worshiped even by sages and gods, then this Purushottam, who gives all desires, is worthy of being worshiped by humans. Therefore, worship the upcoming Purushottam. You will be well after the completion of fourteen years.
O Pandunandan! Those men who have seen Draupadi's hair being pulled, O Maharaj! I will cut the braids of their wives with anger. I will send Duryodhana and other kings to the abode of Yamraj, then you will destroy all the enemies and become the king. Lakshmi is not dear to me, nor is Balabhadra ji dear to me, nor are Devi Devaki, Pradyumna, or Satyaki dear to me, as dear as my devotees are, no one is as dear as that. I am always afflicted by the one who has afflicted my devotees.
O Pandava! There is no other enemy of mine like him, Yamraj is the one who gives the fruit of his crime because that wicked person is not worthy of being seen by me even for punishment.
Shri Narayan said, 'Shri Krishna, after explaining to those Panduputra Yudhishthiradiks and Draupadi, said with the desire to go to Dwarka, O Rajan! Today I will go to Dwarka Puri, which is distraught with separation, where the great Vasudev ji, our elder brother Baldevji, our mother Devi Devaki and Gad, Samb etc. and Ahuk etc. Yadav, Rukmini etc. who are women, all those who are eager to see us are constantly thinking of us with their eyes fixed on our arrival.
Shri Narayan said, 'Knowing the departure of Devesh Shri Krishna while saying this, how did the Pandu-putras speak in a choked voice, just as water is the life of those who live in water, in the same way you are the life of us people. O Janardan! May we meet again after a few days, Hari is the Lord of the Pandavas and there is no one else in the three worlds, in this way everyone says in front, therefore always protect us.
O Lord of the universe! We are yours, don't forget. Your lotus feet are the life of the bumblebees in our hearts. You are our support, therefore we all pray again and again.
While these Panduputras were constantly saying this, Shri Krishna Chandra, immersed in the bliss of love, slowly got on the chariot and returned the Panduputras who were following behind and went to Dwarka Puri.
Shri Narayan said, 'After this, after Shri Dwarkanath Shri Krishna Chandra went to Dwarka Puri, King Yudhishthira, along with his younger brothers, went on a pilgrimage while performing penance.
O Brahman! Narad! In the beloved Purushottam Maas of the Lord, with a focused mind and remembering the words of Shri Krishna Chandra, King Yudhishthira said to his younger brothers and Draupadi, 'Oh! The extremely fierce Purushottam Mahatmya that takes place in Purushottam Maas has been heard, how will happiness be attained without worshiping Purushottam Bhagwan? In this Bharatvarsh, he is blessed, he is worshipable, he is the best, who worships and worships Purushottam Bhagwan with various types of rules. In this way, while traveling in all the pilgrimages, the Panduputras started fasting according to the rules when Purushottam Maas arrived.
O Muni! Narad! At the end of the fast, after the completion of fourteen years, by the grace of Shri Krishna Bhagwan, he attained an incomparable thornless kingdom.
In ancient times, a king named Dridhadhanva, who belonged to the Suryavansh, by serving Purushottam Maas, enjoyed great Lakshmi, the happiness of sons and grandsons, and many types of pleasures, and went to the Vaikuntha Loka of Bhagwan, which is rare even for yogis. O best of sages! Narad! I am not able to tell the incomparable greatness of this Purushottam Maas even if I get crores of Kalp time.
Sootji said, 'O Brahmins! I have heard the greatness of Purushottam Maas from Krishnadvaipayan (Vyas ji), yet I am not able to tell it. Narayan himself knows the entire greatness of this Purushottam Maas or Hari Bhagwan, who lives in Vaikuntha, knows it directly. But even Shri Krishna Chandra, the Lord of Goloka, whose feet are worshiped by Brahma and other gods, does not know the complete greatness of Purushottam Maas, so how can a human know?
Thus ends the twelfth chapter in Shri Brihannaradiya Purana Purushottammasmahatmya ॥12॥
