Krishna's Dance on Kaliya

In the previous chapter, we saw how Krishna jumped into the Yamuna River, knowing that Kaliya Nag resided there. The people of Nandgaon were worried about their beloved, but they were unaware of Krishna's power. The water of the Yamuna had now taken on an even more terrible form, as if a war had been declared.

The Dance of Poison

As soon as Krishna went deep into the Yamuna, Kaliya Nag appeared with his poisonous hisses. His massive body was deep blue, and there were terrible marks on his hood. The water of the Yamuna became even darker with his poison, and a terrible and pungent smell spread everywhere. Fish and other aquatic creatures started running here and there to save their lives, as if the water was boiling. There was an atmosphere of fear and despair in the air, everyone was trembling with Kaliya's anger.

Kaliya said angrily, "Who are you, who dares to enter my territory? Don't you know my power? Today I will take your life!" Krishna said with a smile, "Kaliya, I am just a child, I have come to bathe in the Yamuna. But it seems you have a sole kingdom here, won't you even let me play a little?"

Krishna's Dance

Krishna answered Kaliya's words with his dance. He climbed onto Kaliya's hood and started dancing on it. Kaliya's body started trembling with the beat of his feet. Kaliya was in unbearable pain with every beat, his power started waning. Krishna's dance was not just physical, but it was a spiritual war, where the power of truth and love was conquering evil. Kaliya tried his best to stop Krishna, but he failed. Krishna's dance became faster, and Kaliya's grip loosened.

Kaliya fell at Krishna's feet, weakened. He understood that this child was no ordinary human, but a divine power. An amazing transformation began to take place within Kaliya with the touch of Krishna's feet. His ego began to melt, and he began to realize his mistake. The water of the Yamuna gradually became calm, and the poisonous smell in the air decreased. Kaliya was experiencing peace in his heart by Krishna's grace.

The Prayers of the Nagins

Kaliya's wives became distraught seeing the condition of their husband. They came before Krishna with their children and started praying to him. They said, "O Lord, we know that our husband has committed many sins. But we ask for forgiveness from you. We beg you to grant our husband life. We are surrendered to you, protect us." There were tears in their eyes, and there was repentance in their hearts. Krishna's heart melted hearing their prayer. He felt compassion for Kaliya and his wives. The next chapter will tell how Krishna will grant forgiveness and the Yamuna will become holy again.
