Story of Mother Tulsi – Chapter 2: The Rise of Jalandhar's Power

The Rise of Jalandhar's Power
In the previous chapter, we saw how Vrinda was a righteous and devoted queen who considered her husband Jalandhar as God. Her purity and penance were the source of Jalandhar's strength. But destiny had something else in store, as the poison of ego began to spread in Jalandhar's heart, and this very poison was going to be the cause of his destruction.
Declaration of Invasion of Heaven
Like the waves of the ocean, Jalandhar's army seemed invincible. The flag fluttered on his chariot, his golden armor shone in the sun's rays. The fire of victory blazed in his eyes. He ordered his generals, "Today we will invade heaven! Indra's throne will be Jalandhar's today! Show the gods that there is now another powerful king in this universe!" Hearing his roar, a wave of enthusiasm swept through the army. Soldiers shouted slogans of 'Victory to Jalandhar', which echoed in the sky. But somewhere, someone felt that ego, which was leading towards destruction.
Jalandhar thought to himself, "Vrinda's power is with me. Her purity will make me victorious in every battle. What to speak of the gods, no one in the three worlds can defeat me." But he did not know that this very ego would prove to be his biggest mistake. He had considered Vrinda's power as his own, and out of pride, he began to boast about God's blessings.
Defeat of the Gods
Chaos erupted in the heavens. Jalandhar's army invaded the abode of the gods. Indra and other gods fought with full strength, but they were no match for Jalandhar. The army of the gods began to lose. Even Indra's thunderbolt could not harm Jalandhar, because the armor of Vrinda's purity kept Jalandhar safe. The gates of heaven were broken, and Jalandhar's army entered heaven. The gods had to flee to save their lives.
Vrinda's purity was protecting Jalandhar like a shield. It was due to her penance and righteousness that Jalandhar remained invincible. The weapons of the gods were proving futile. It seemed as if nature itself was with Jalandhar, because Vrinda's righteousness was so strong that it was influencing even the cosmic powers.
The Poison of Ego
After conquering heaven, Jalandhar's pride reached its peak. He sat on Indra's throne and declared, "From today, the heavens will be ruled by Jalandhar! The gods will be my slaves!" He captured the gods and forced them to bow before him. Both Jalandhar's power and ego were growing rapidly, and this became a cause of concern for the gods. Now, to whom should they seek refuge? Would their power be effective against Vrinda's purity? In the next chapter, we will see what plan the gods made to get rid of Jalandhar's tyranny.
Summary of Chapter 2: In this chapter, we saw how Jalandhar displayed his power, invaded heaven, and defeated the gods. Vrinda's purity enhanced his strength, but his ego propelled him towards destruction. This chapter teaches us that power should never turn into arrogance, as ego leads to downfall.
