Divine Marriage and Union

In the previous chapter, we saw that Lord Shiva accepted Parvati's marriage proposal at the request of the gods and sages. Now, a wave of joy has spread over Mount Kailash, and everyone is waiting for the auspicious moment when Shiva and Parvati will be bound in marriage. The entire universe is eager to witness this divine union.

Wedding preparations

A fair of gods and Gandharvas gathered on Mount Kailash. Everyone got involved in the wedding preparations in their own way. Kuber filled the treasuries with wealth and grain, and Indradev rained precious gems and jewels from heaven. The Apsaras were eager to present dance and singing performances, and the sages were ready to chant Vedic mantras. Mount Kailash was filled with divine fragrances, and there was an atmosphere of happiness everywhere.

Parvati was surrounded by her friends. Her friends were applying turmeric to her and singing auspicious songs. Parvati had happiness and a little nervousness in her mind. She thought, "Today I am going to marry Shiva! Am I worthy of him? Will I be able to keep him happy?" One of her friends said, "Why worry, Parvati? You are the embodiment of power yourself. Shiva is complete only with you."

Grand Wedding Ceremony

At the auspicious time, Lord Shiva appeared as the groom. His form was amazing, a body covered with ashes, the stream of Ganga in his matted hair, and the moon on his forehead. Riding on Nandi the bull, he proceeded towards the wedding pavilion. Gods and sages welcomed him. The wedding pavilion was decorated with flowers and lamps. The fire was lit, and the chanting of Vedic mantras began.

Parvati came to the pavilion as a bride. In a red silk sari, she looked extremely beautiful. Her face was shining like the moon. When Shiva and Parvati saw each other, their hearts were filled with love. The wedding rituals began, and with each ritual, their bond grew stronger. Seven rounds were taken around the fire, and with each round, they promised to support each other. Lord Shiva applied vermilion on Parvati's forehead, and their marriage was declared complete.

Union of Shiva and Parvati

After the marriage, Shiva and Parvati started living together on Mount Kailash. Their love was unbreakable, and their life was joyful. Together they managed the world and blessed their devotees. Their union was divine, and they gave the message of love and patience to the world. The marriage of Shiva and Parvati is a symbol, which teaches us that true love can overcome every obstacle and is always victorious.
