Shiva Parvati Marriage Story – Chapter 6: Marriage Proposal and Acceptance

Marriage Proposal and Acceptance
After Kamadeva was reduced to ashes, a strange silence fell over the atmosphere. Rati's lament echoed throughout the universe, but Shiva was absorbed in his penance. The peace of the Himalayas had been disturbed, but the gods now saw a ray of hope - the marriage of Shiva and Parvati was now the only solution.
Arrival of the Saptarishis
On an auspicious day, seven divine sages appeared on the peak of the Himalayas. The mountain was illuminated by their radiance. The Rishis, the mind-born sons of Brahma, were symbols of amazing knowledge and penance. Their presence filled Himavan and Maina's hearts with reverence. They understood that this was no ordinary arrival; it was a sign of some great purpose. A sacred fragrance spread in the air, and the birds became silent to honor the sages. Himavan and Maina ran and touched the feet of the sages and seated them respectfully on the আসন.
Himavan humbly asked, "O venerable sages, what is the reason for your arrival on this desolate mountain? We are blessed to have the dust of your feet. Please tell us what service we can do for you." There was also a slight fear in his mind that he might have made some mistake, due to which such great sages had come to his door. Maina was also looking eagerly at the sages.
Marriage proposal
One of the Saptarishis, Rishi Vashishtha, said in his calm voice, "O Himavan, we have brought an important proposal from Lord Shiva. Your daughter Parvati has pleased Shiva with her penance and devotion. Now Shiva wants to marry her." Hearing this, Himavan and Maina were astonished. They could not believe their ears. Did Lord Shiva really want to marry their daughter? This was the greatest good fortune for them.
The Rishi further said, "Parvati has the characteristics of Adi Shakti, and Shiva wants to make her his consort. This marriage will be beneficial not only for Himavan's family but for the entire universe. It is necessary for the balance of creation." Hearing Shiva's wish, Himavan and Maina were overwhelmed with emotion. What could be greater for them than Shiva's grace?
Acceptance of Himavan and Maina
Himavan said with folded hands, "O venerable sages, this is our great fortune. Lord Shiva himself wants to take our daughter's hand, what could be greater for us than this? We gladly accept this proposal." There were tears of joy in Maina's eyes. She took her daughter in her lap and loved her. Their Parvati was truly blessed.
Maina said, "But, is our Parvati worthy of that great yogi? Will she be able to cooperate in his life of penance and detachment? My maternal heart is a little worried, O sages." Rishi Vashishtha said with a smile, "Maina Devi, do not worry. Parvati is the form of Adi Shakti. She is the power of Shiva, his inspiration. She will definitely be able to walk with Shiva on every path of life. This union is destined by fate." All her fears disappeared at the mere mention of Shiva's name. It was a divine sign, everything was happening by the will of Lord Shiva. Now she had no doubt about the success of this marriage. With the acceptance of the marriage, an atmosphere of celebration spread in the Himalayas.
Summary of Chapter 6: The Saptarishis came to Himavan with a marriage proposal, which he gladly accepted. From this chapter, we learn that God can be attained through true devotion and penance, and with his grace, the impossible becomes possible.
