The Dawn of Divine Love

In Gokul, the childhood pastimes of Shri Krishna had enchanted everyone. His mischievous antics and wondrous powers had made him the darling of the village. Now, the child Krishna was slowly growing into adolescence, and a special love was blossoming in his heart – for Radha. This chapter tells the story of the rise of divine love between Radha and Krishna.

The Beginning of the Rasa Lila

It was the night of Sharad Purnima. The sky was sparkling with stars, and the Yamuna river flowed with a serene grace. A wondrous fragrance spread through the winding lanes of Vrindavan, as if nature itself was conveying the message of love. Krishna picked up his flute, and from it emerged a melody so sweet that it captivated the hearts of all the Gopis. They all lost their senses and were drawn towards him, as if an invisible force was pulling them. An unbreakable love for Krishna surged in their hearts, tears in their eyes and the hope of union in their minds.

Radha, who was most special in Krishna's heart, became restless upon hearing the melody of his flute. "O Krishna," she said to herself, "I am incomplete without you. Your love is the essence of my life." Just then, Krishna appeared before Radha, his eyes shining with love and joy.

Love Discourse on the Banks of the Yamuna

After the Rasa Lila, Krishna took Radha to the banks of the Yamuna river. In the moonlight, the waters of the Yamuna shimmered like silver, and there was a mystical peace in the atmosphere. Krishna took Radha's hand and drew her towards him. Their eyes got lost in each other, and there was no need for words. Krishna said to Radha, "Radhe, you are the foundation of my life. Without you, I am incomplete." Radha replied, "Krishna, you are my everything. My love for you is infinite."

Tears of love flowed from Radha's eyes, as if all the love in her heart was being poured out in words. Krishna lovingly wiped away those tears and said, "Radhe, your love makes me even stronger. This love is what keeps us bound together."

Flute Playing and Divine Union

Krishna then picked up his flute and played a wondrous melody. This melody was a symbol of love, separation, and union. Radha listened to the tune, mesmerized. In that melody, both Krishna and Radha were lost; their union was not merely physical, but spiritual. This was the pinnacle of divine love. Slowly, the night passed, and the sun began to rise. Gokul was about to awaken. This play of love would continue, but Krishna now had to prepare for another important duty: his departure to Mathura. This separation would deepen their love even further.
