Mirabai: The Greatest Devotee of Lord Krishna

Meera Bai is considered the greatest devotee of Lord Krishna. Meera Bai devoted her entire life to the devotion of Lord Krishna and it is said that she even died in the idol of God. There are no historical records of Meera Bai's Jayanti, but according to the Hindu lunar calendar, the day of Sharad Purnima is celebrated as Meerabai's Jayanti.

Devotion to Lord Shri Ram at the behest of Tulsidas

In some place in history, it is found that Meera Bai also made Tulsidas her guru and worshiped. Krishna devotee Meera has also written Ram Bhajan, although it is not clearly mentioned, but some historians believe that there was a dialogue between Mirabai and Tulsidas through letters. It is believed that Mirabai wrote a letter to Tulsidas ji that her family members do not allow her to worship Krishna. To get Shri Krishna, Mirabai asked her guru Tulsidas for a solution. At the behest of Tulsidas, Meera wrote devotional hymns with Krishna. In which the most famous hymn is \”Payo ji maine Ram Raman Dhan Payo\

Lord Krishna was a devotee since childhood

Meera Bai, the only daughter of Rathore Ratan Singh of Jodhpur, was immersed in Krishna-bhakti since childhood. Krishna's image was fixed in Mirabai's childhood, so from youth to death, she considered Krishna as her everything. Due to an incident in childhood, her love for Krishna reached its peak. One day in childhood, a procession came to a rich man in her neighborhood. All the women were standing on the roof watching the procession. Mirabai also came to the roof to see the procession. Seeing the procession, Meera asked her mother who my bride is, on which Meera Bai's mother jokingly pointed towards the idol of Lord Shri Krishna and said that this is your bride, this thing is like a knot in Meera Bai's childhood. And started considering Krishna as her husband.

Marriage with Bhojraj

Mirabai's family wanted to marry her when she was of marriageable age, but Mirabai did not want to marry anyone else, considering Shri Krishna as her husband. Against Mirabai's wishes, she was married to Prince Bhojraj of Mewar.

Meera's Krishna devotion

After the death of her husband, Meera's devotion increased day by day. Meera used to go to temples and dance for hours in front of the idol of Shri Krishna. Mirabai's Krishna devotion was not favorable to her husband's family. Her family also tried to kill Meera by poisoning her many times. But by the grace of Shri Krishna, nothing happened to Mirabai.

Meera Bai's end happened in Shri Krishna

It is said that due to Mirabai's devotion throughout her life, she died while worshiping Shri Krishna. According to beliefs, in the year 1547, in Dwarka, while worshiping Krishna, she saw the idol of Shri Krishna.
