Karni Mata's Farewell

After the construction of the temple of rats, Karni Mata's fame spread far and wide. Devotees flocked to her, each eager to receive her benevolent gaze. However, Karni Mata's heart now yearned for pilgrimage; she wished to detach herself from worldly attachments and immerse herself in contemplation of the divine.

Preparation for Pilgrimage

With the first rays of dawn, the atmosphere became devotional. Devotees were engaged in singing hymns and prayers, and the fragrance of incense and agarbatti purified the surroundings. Karni Mata blessed her devotees, her eyes reflecting affection and the sentiment of farewell. A profound peace was evident on her face, as if she had foreknowledge of her future. She was clad in white garments, and a Rudraksha mala adorned her neck. Her aura illuminated the entire environment.

Karni Mata called her nephew, Poonjaji, and said, "Poonja, my time is drawing near. I am going on a pilgrimage. You all must walk the path of righteousness and truth. Always help the weak and be a support for the distressed and the suffering." Poonjaji said with tearful eyes, "Mother, how will we live without you? May your protective shadow always remain over us." Karni Mata smiled and said, "I am always with you, residing in your heart. Just remember me with a true heart."

Mysterious Disappearance

Karni Mata embarked on her pilgrimage with a few trusted attendants. She visited many holy places, gave alms to the poor, and helped the needy. One day, she reached the bank of a lake a short distance from Deshnok. She told her companions that she wished to rest for a while. Karni Mata sat by the lake and became absorbed in meditation. After some time, when the attendants went to see her, she was not there.

Karni Mata could not be found anywhere. People searched for her everywhere, but she was not found. Some said that she merged with the divine, while others claimed she had gone to a secret place for penance. The incident of her disappearance remains a mystery to this day. Devotees believe that Karni Mata still subtly protects her devotees and fulfills their wishes.

Importance of Devotion and Faith

After Karni Mata's departure, the faith of her devotees grew even stronger. They followed Karni Mata's principles and resolved to walk the path she had shown.
