Birth and Early Life

Meha Ji Charan's family had been devoted to the worship of Hinglaj Mata for generations. They were known for their devotion and simplicity. His wife, Deval Bai, was a calm and devout woman, in whose heart God always resided. Both were saddened by being childless, but their faith was unwavering. They prayed to Mother Hinglaj every moment to grant them a successor to carry on their lineage. Their prayer was finally about to be answered, as destiny had decided to bring about a wondrous event in their lives.

Auspicious Omens

It was the year Vikram Samvat 1444 when Deval Bai had a remarkable dream. In her dream, Hinglaj Mata appeared to her and said that she herself would be born as a daughter in their home. Deval Bai was filled with surprise and joy. Her heart danced with happiness. A divine light spread all around, and she experienced a wonderful peace. Some time after that dream, Deval Bai gave birth to a daughter on Chaitra Shukla Chaturdashi.

Many auspicious signs appeared at the time of the daughter's birth. The stars in the sky shone brighter, and a sweet fragrance filled the air. Birds chirped joyfully, as if announcing a celebration. Meha Ji Charan's home was filled with happiness. He named his daughter Ridhu Bai, but people came to know her as Karni Mata.

Miraculous Feats

Karni Mata's childhood was different from other children. She possessed extraordinary powers, which she often demonstrated. Once, an epidemic spread in the village. Children were falling ill, and people were terrified. Karni Mata gathered the villagers and asked them to worship Hinglaj Mata. She herself sang praises of the Mother, and astonishingly, the epidemic gradually subsided.

In another incident, a poor farmer's crop was being ruined due to drought. Karni Mata called the farmer and asked him to be patient. She prayed to Mother Hinglaj, and the very next day, it began to rain. The farmer's crop was saved, and his joy knew no bounds. Many people were freed from suffering by Karni Mata's grace, and her glory began to spread everywhere. From childhood, she helped the poor and distressed and guided them on the right path. Her words were like nectar, and her touch was magical.

Detachment from the World

As Karni Mata grew older, her detachment from worldly attachments increased. She had no interest in marriage or domestic life. Her mind was always absorbed in devotion to God. She knew that her life was for a special purpose, and she was eager to fulfill that purpose. She expressed her desire to her parents, which made them a little worried, but they knew Karni Mata's inner strength and determination.

Karni Mata made it clear that she wished to dedicate her life to the service of the poor and distressed and to the devotion of Mother Hinglaj. This decision certainly disappointed her parents a bit, but they knew their daughter was an extraordinary soul. Now, it remains to be seen how Karni Mata convinces her parents and whether she can walk her path, free from the pressure of marriage.
