Karna Danveer Katha – Chapter 4: Karna Becomes Angaraj

Karna Becomes the King of Anga
In the previous chapter, we saw Karna learning the art of warfare from Dronacharya. Now, it was time for him to showcase his talent in the arena. Destiny had prepared a special role for him, a stage where he would find both honor and friendship, but whose seeds would be sown in future conflicts.
Arrival in the Arena
The arena of Indraprastha was packed with spectators. Prince Arjuna was eager to demonstrate his archery skills. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Karna, standing amidst the crowd, felt a slight anxiety in his heart and a great deal of confidence. He had vowed to uphold the honor of his training and prove his worth. His body was like steel, his veins taut, and his eyes held the brilliance of the sun.
As Arjuna performed one astonishing feat after another, the audience roared with applause, making the sky echo. Karna thought to himself, "Will I be able to perform like this? Will my talent be recognized here?" Then he remembered the words of his guru, Parashurama, "Karna, believe in your abilities. You are extraordinary."
Duryodhana's Support
After Arjuna's performance concluded, Karna entered the arena. Without any prior permission, he displayed skills that surpassed even Arjuna's. The spectators were astonished. Just then, Kripacharya stopped Karna, saying, "O brave one, state your name and lineage. A competition among princes can only be held between princes!" Karna's head bowed in shame. He was reminded of his low caste. At that moment, Duryodhana stepped forward and roared, "If birth becomes an obstacle to the display of merit, then I declare this warrior the king of the Anga country! From today, this Karna will be known as Karna, the King of Anga!" Duryodhana immediately made the announcement and embraced Karna.
Lord Surya, pleased to witness his son's valor, guided Karna with his radiance and boosted his confidence. Lord Surya knew that Duryodhana's support would give Karna's life a new direction, but he also knew that this friendship would ultimately lead to destruction. Nevertheless, he allowed his son to choose his own destiny.
The Bond of Friendship
After becoming the King of Anga, Karna was filled with gratitude towards Duryodhana. He considered Duryodhana his best friend and vowed to dedicate his life to him. The bond of this friendship was unbreakable, but it also represented a significant line between righteousness and unrighteousness. Karna, now the King of Anga, would stand with Duryodhana, regardless of the consequences. This was the cycle of destiny, leading him towards a war where he would have to fight against his own brothers. In the next chapter, we will see how Indra attempts to trick Karna out of his armor and earrings, and how Karna's generosity will become immortal.
Summary of Chapter 4: In this chapter, we saw how Karna showcased his talent in the arena and how Duryodhana honored him by making him the King of Anga. This event established a deep friendship between Karna and Duryodhana, which would play a decisive role in the Mahabharata war. This chapter teaches us that friendship and gratitude are important qualities, but we must also be capable of making the right choices between righteousness and unrighteousness.
