Victory Over Demons

In the previous chapter, we saw how Mahakali, taking on a fierce form, attacked the army of Mahishasura. The earth began to tremble, flames of fire rose in the sky, and fear spread among the gods. Now, Mahakali was fully prepared to annihilate the demons; her anger, like a flame, was eager to consume them.

Annihilation of the Demon Army

The energy emanating from Mahakali's weapons caused chaos in the demon army. The trident was piercing the chests of hundreds of demons simultaneously, swords were severing heads from bodies, and the Sudarshan Chakra, spinning with the speed of a whirlwind, was cutting through hordes of demons. A stampede broke out in the demon army. Frightened demon soldiers were fleeing in all directions, but no one could escape Mahakali's wrath. Rivers of blood began to flow, and the battlefield was strewn with corpses.

One demon soldier screamed, "Run! This is not a goddess, it is death! She will not leave us alive!" Another demon cried, "I have never seen such a terrifying sight. Our army is being destroyed!" Seeing Mahakali's ferocious form, the morale of the demon army was completely broken.

Mahakali's Great Battle with Mahishasura

Seeing the destruction of his army, Mahishasura went mad with rage. He assumed the form of a monstrous buffalo and attacked Mahakali. The earth shook with his horns, and the sky echoed with his roar. Mahakali also confronted him with her weapons. A fierce battle ensued between them. Mahishasura exerted all his strength, but none of his powers could withstand Mahakali's radiance.

The grace of Mother Kalika, residing on Pavagadh mountain, remained with Mahakali. That same power was providing her the energy to face Mahishasura. The faith of the devotees and the sanctity of Pavagadh were making Mahakali's weapons even more powerful. With the blessings of Mother Kalika, Mahakali was overpowering Mahishasura.

Slaying of Mahishasura

Finally, Mahakali struck Mahishasura's chest with her trident. The trident pierced his heart and sank into the earth. With a terrible scream, Mahishasura fell to the ground and his life departed. The gods filled the sky with joyous shouts. Peace descended upon the earth. Mahakali protected righteousness and achieved victory over the demons.

This form of Mahakali proved that when dharma is in danger, Mother Bhagavati appears in any form to protect her devotees. Mother Kalika of Pavagadh is always with her devotees and is ready to protect them. Now, it is essential to know how Pavagadh became a holy abode after this victory.
