Naina Devi Katha – Chapter 1: The Shepherd's Amazing Discovery

The Shepherd's Amazing Discovery
In the hills of Himachal Pradesh, where nature scatters its wondrous beauty, lived a shepherd named Naina in a small settlement. The villagers were living a peaceful life, unaware that a divine event was soon to occur on their land, which would be remembered for ages.
The Peace of the Morning
As the first rays of the sun painted the Dhauladhar mountain range in golden hues, Naina would set out with his cows towards the pasture. The air was filled with the fragrance of fresh grass and cedar trees. Birds sang sweet songs, and streams flowed with a gentle murmur. Naina found great peace in this serene environment. He would often play his flute, and listening to its melody, even the cows would stand still. His heart would fill with devotion. He thanked God for giving him the opportunity to live in such a beautiful and peaceful place.
“O God, Your creation is boundless. You have made such a beautiful world, and made me a part of it. I will forever be grateful to You,” Naina would say to himself. His cows grazed peacefully, as if they too could hear Naina's prayer.
The Cow's Mysterious Behavior
One day, while Naina was grazing his cows, he noticed that his favorite cow, Kapila, had strayed from the herd and was heading towards a small cave. At first, Naina thought she might be thirsty and going to drink water. But when Kapila did not come out of the cave for a long time, Naina became worried. He went near the cave and saw Kapila standing there, but her udder was empty. Naina was surprised because he had milked Kapila that morning. So where had all the milk gone? He peeked inside the cave but could see nothing.
This incident repeated for several days. Every day, Kapila would go into the same cave and leave all her milk there. Naina was perplexed. He began to feel that there must be some divine power in this cave. "What is this play? Why does Kapila leave milk there? Is there a secret hidden in this cave," he would ask himself.
Vision of Divine Eyes
One day, Naina decided that he would uncover the mystery of the cave. He left his cows in a safe place and went inside the cave. It was dark inside the cave, but gradually his eyes adjusted to the darkness. Then he saw a wondrous light glowing in a corner of the cave. The light gradually grew, and he saw two divine eyes. Those eyes were calm and compassionate, as if blessing Naina. Naina trembled with fear, but then he composed himself and bowed to those eyes. He understood why Kapila used to leave milk there. That place was the abode of the Mother's divine eyes, which had manifested there to bring welfare to the world.
Summary of Chapter 1: Shepherd Naina has a vision of the Mother's divine eyes in a cave. This event marks a significant turning point in Naina's life and makes him experience the Mother's power. In the next chapter, we will see how this news spreads in the village and reaches King Bir Chand.
