Growing Fame of the Temple

In the previous chapter, we saw how the Mother saved Mai Das through divine intervention. Now, discussions about the miracles of Mata Chintpurni had begun in the village and surrounding areas. Mai Das's faith had become even stronger, and he decided to dedicate his life to the service of the temple.

Arrival of Devotees from Far and Wide

The serene mountain air was now filled with the sweet sound of bells and the chant of "Jai Mata Di." Devotees from far and wide, carrying their hopes and desires, began to arrive at the court of Chintpurni Mata. Some wished for children, while others sought freedom from illness. Some were facing a slump in their business, while others were troubled by family disputes. A ray of hope was visible on every face, a belief that the Mother would surely alleviate their suffering. The area around the temple began to fill with small flower vendors, Prasad shops, and devotees donating for the Langar service.

An elderly woman, slowly walking with the support of a stick, was moving towards the temple. Tears welled up in her eyes. "O Mother," she whispered, "save my son. He is critically ill, and even the doctors have given up. I see no refuge but you."

Stories of Miracles

Stories of the temple's miracles spread like wildfire. There was the story of a poor farmer whose crops were completely ruined due to drought. He prayed at the feet of Mata Chintpurni, and within a few days, it miraculously rained, and his crops turned lush green. Another story was of a barren woman who had been childless for years. She made a vow at the Mother's court, and the very next year, she was blessed with a healthy child. These stories further strengthened the faith of the devotees. People would say, "This is the Mother's court; every wish is fulfilled here."

One devotee was telling another, "I have heard that Mata Chintpurni makes every difficulty of her devotees easy. One just needs to pray with a true heart." The other devotee replied, "Yes, I have heard the same. My sister had cancer, and she prayed to the Mother, and now she is completely fine." Hearing this, the devotion towards the Mother grew even stronger in everyone's hearts.

Mai Das's Service and Dedication

Mai Das considered the temple his home. He would wake up earliest in the morning and clean the temple. Then, he would bathe the idol of the Mother, adorn her, and decorate her with flowers. He remained engaged in serving the devotees throughout the day, listening to their troubles, and telling them about the Mother's blessings. Mai Das believed that serving the temple was true devotion. He never asked for anything for himself but always prayed for the well-being of others.

Every morning, while performing the Aarti at the temple, Mai Das would say, "O Mother, give me the strength to serve you and help my devotees. May I never become arrogant, and may I always remain humble." Seeing his dedication and selfless service, others were also inspired and began to help in the maintenance of the temple. Mai Das's life became an example—the life of a true devotee.
