Shree Kartikeya Chalisa: Complete Text and Doha (Full Chalisa Hindi Text)

॥ Doha ॥

Victory to Ganapati, Lord of Riddhi-Siddhi, Victory to Girija’s son, the Brave. Kartik Swami, benefactor of the humble, alleviate all worldly pain. Always adorned with Shakti in hand, riding a peacock. Cast Your merciful glance upon Your servant, O Lord of the Gods.

॥ Chaupai ॥

Victory, victory, Kartikeya, the giver of happiness. Shadanana, victory, the giver of liberation. Son of Shiva, child of Girija. He removes all troubles of devotees. A vermillion mark adorns His forehead, a beautiful crown sits on His head. Six faces, supremely enchanting, captivate the minds of gods and sages.

Earrings dangle brilliantly, His immense strength cannot be described. In His hand, a mighty weapon, Shakti, which destroys wherever it strikes. A beautiful peacock, His vehicle, radiant with divine splendor. Having attained the position of Devasenapati, all gods bowed their heads.

When Tarakasura caused disturbance, and gave suffering to all gods. When he snatched Indra’s throne, chaos ensued in the city of gods. Brahma and Vishnu sought refuge with Shiva, and suggested ways to slay Tarakasura. Agni (Fire God) carried Shiva’s energy, which was then placed on the banks of the Ganges.

He was born in the reeds, and was nurtured by the six Krittikas. He was then named Shadanana, and auspiciousness spread throughout all worlds. He assumed a wondrous child form, delighting His father Shiva’s heart. Mother Uma held Him on her lap, and lovingly caressed Him in various ways.

The King of Gods then gave Him weapons, and recognized Him as the Commander of the Army. The hero rode his peacock into battle, roaring with deep resolve. A fierce battle ensued with Tarakasura, weapons and missiles rained down. The Lord then struck with His Shakti, slaying Tarakasura and ending all fear.

Victory cries echoed in the heavens, all gods were freed from sorrow. He vanquished the arrogance of Banasura, and pierced the Krauncha mountain. The Lord of the Universe, the giver of knowledge and power, resides within every being. Whoever seeks refuge in You, O Lord, attains their heart’s desires.

Remove disputes over land and suffering. Vanquish enemies and grant victory. Alleviate the Mangal Dosha, O Lord, and bestow knowledge, strength, and radiance. Illness, sorrow, and fear do not approach those who sing the Chalisa with devotion. They are blessed with sons, grandsons, wealth, and grains, and receive the grace of Lord Kartikeya.

In the southern lands, He is known as Murugan, worshipped by all beings day and night. He who observes the Skanda Shasthi fast, the Lord removes all his troubles. I am humble and helpless, seeking Your refuge, O Lord of Tripura. Protect me. With folded hands, I offer my prayers, singing Your glories day and night.

॥ Doha ॥

Reciting this Chalisa daily with concentration, Attains the grace of Lord Kartikeya and fulfills all desires. O Six-faced Lord, descendant of the divine river, aid Your servant. Destroy enemies, bring auspiciousness, and remove worldly obstacles.
