One day, a great sage arrived in the city. The Brahmin humbly welcomed him and narrated his troubles.

The sage said:

“If you observe Guru Pradosh Vrat with faith and discipline, Lord Shiva and Devguru Brihaspati will fulfill all your desires.”

From that very day, the Brahmin started observing Guru Pradosh Vrat. He would fast on Trayodashi, perform Abhishek of the Shivalinga during Pradosh Kaal, and chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya”.
