Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was born in Navadvipa on the day of Phalguna Purnima. His childhood name was Vishvambhar Mishra. Due to his birth under a neem tree, he was called Nimai, while his fair complexion also made him famous as Gauranga Mahaprabhu.

From childhood, he was extremely intelligent and became a scholar of Sanskrit grammar, Nyaya Shastra, and the Vedas. Later, engrossed in the devotion of Lord Krishna, he dedicated his entire life to the service of God and the welfare of society.

After receiving initiation from his guru Ishvara Puri, he showed people the simple path of devotion through sankirtan. According to him, in Kali Yuga, remembering the name of God is the easiest way to attain liberation.
