Vindhyavasini Devi Katha – Chapter 5: Protection of Local People

Protection of Local People
After illuminating the Vindhya mountain with Her divine grace, Mother Vindhyavasini's compassion turned towards the villages nestled around the mountain. The mountain had become lush green, rivers flowed with pristine water, and birds and animals chirped with joy. However, this peace could not last long, as the atrocities of demons increased in the surrounding areas.
Terror of the Demons
The sun had set, and the darkness of night was deepening. An atmosphere of fear pervaded the villages. Hordes of demons, gigantic and terrifying, were attacking homes. The earth trembled with their roars, and innocent villagers cried out in distress due to their cruelty. Homes were being looted, crops were being trampled, and people were being taken captive. The screams of mothers, the cries of children, and the helpless calls of men echoed in the sky. An era of despair and fear had spread.
An old villager, named Ramu, trembled inwardly as he tried to protect his family. He said to his wife, "What will happen now? These demons will not leave us alive. Mother Vindhyavasini, protect us!" Tears welled up in his eyes, and he began to remember the Goddess with folded hands.
The Goddess's Radiant Incarnation
As the atrocities of the demons reached their peak, a wondrous light appeared in the sky. This light was so intense that even the darkness receded. All the terrified villagers, who had tried to hide to save their lives, began to look towards that light. From within that light, the divine form of Mother Vindhyavasini manifested. She held various weapons in Her ten arms, Her face shone with radiance, and Her eyes held both compassion and anger.
Mother Vindhyavasini said in a thundering voice, "Wicked demons, your cup of sins is now full! You have inflicted great suffering upon innocent people. Today, I will give you the fruits of your deeds!" Saying this, she attacked the demons with her weapons. Her Sudarshan Chakra severed the heads of the demons from their bodies, Her trident pierced the hearts of the demons, and Her sword tore the demons to pieces.
Shower of Blessings on the Villagers
After the destruction of the demons, Mother Vindhyavasini cast Her benevolent gaze upon the villagers. Her divine form had become even more radiant than before. Blessing the villagers, She said, "O my devotees, from now on, you will have no fear of any kind. I will always protect you. This land will be filled with wealth and grain, your homes will be filled with prosperity, and you will all live a life of peace and happiness." Hearing the nectar-like words from the Goddess's mouth, the faces of the villagers lit up. They folded their hands, praised Mother Vindhyavasini, and fell at Her feet.
From that day onwards, peace returned to the villages. The fields began to flourish, homes were filled with wealth and grain, and people began to live joyfully. They knew that Mother Vindhyavasini was always ready to protect them. Filled with gratitude, the villagers expressed their reverence and devotion to the Mother. Their faith had become even stronger, and they remembered the Mother in every adversity, knowing that their call would surely be heard. Now they were eager to establish the temple of the Goddess and worship Her properly.
Summary of Chapter 5: In this chapter, we saw how Mother Vindhyavasini protected the local people by destroying the demons and blessed them with prosperity. This teaches us that God always protects His devotees and that good ultimately triumphs over evil. Through devotion and surrender to the Goddess, peace and prosperity are attained in life.
