Vindhyavasini Devi Katha – Chapter 1: Birth of Vindhyavasini Devi

The Birth of Vindhyavasini Devi
The terror of demons had increased in the universe. Dharma was being lost, and the Earth was burdened with sins. Lord Vishnu resolved to alleviate the suffering of his devotees and re-establish Dharma. The time had come for his incarnation, for which the lives of Devaki and Vasudeva were to play a significant role.
Chaos in the Mathura Prison
Darkness had descended upon the Mathura prison, as if a dark shadow of despair had spread everywhere. Devaki and Vasudeva were bound by iron chains, the fear of Kansa's tyranny filling their hearts every moment. Devaki had lost six sons one by one, whom the cruel Kansa had killed immediately after their birth. Vasudeva's eyes held a mixture of anger and pain, but he was helpless. The future appeared bleak to them; they did not believe they would ever be free from Kansa's tyranny.
"Lord, what will happen now?" Devaki asked Vasudeva, looking at him. "Kansa has killed all our sons. How will we escape this cruelty?" Vasudeva wiped Devaki's tears and assured her, "Goddess, be patient. Have faith in God. He will surely protect us. His decree is immutable."
The Transfer of Yogmaya
On that very night, when the entire world was immersed in deep slumber, Lord Vishnu summoned Yogmaya. He said, "O Yogmaya, go into Yashoda's womb and, as a part of my power, establish Dharma on Earth. In Devaki's womb, I myself will incarnate as Krishna." Yogmaya, obeying the Lord's command, immediately entered Yashoda's womb, and Lord Krishna arrived in Devaki's womb. This was a wondrous and divine event that astonished even the gods.
Vindhyavasini Devi is a form of Yogmaya. Her birth came as a ray of hope for gods and humans. With her power, Dharma will be established, and demons will be destroyed. Whoever worships her with a true heart will surely attain salvation. With her grace, peace will be established in the three worlds, and the sufferings of devotees will be removed.
Kansa's Failed Attempt and Prophecy
When Kansa learned that Devaki had given birth to another child, he became enraged. He immediately reached the prison and lunged to kill the infant. But as soon as Kansa tried to dash the girl down, she slipped from his hands, ascended into the sky, and appeared as an eight-armed goddess. The goddess warned Kansa, "Fool! The one who will kill you has already been born on Earth. Your end is certain." Hearing this prophecy, Kansa was terrified, and his confidence was shattered.
Summary of Chapter 1: In this chapter, we saw how Devaki and Vasudeva were imprisoned, and Lord Vishnu transferred Yogmaya to Yashoda's womb. Kansa attempted to kill Yogmaya, but he failed and was told a prophecy. The spiritual message of this chapter is that God always protects his devotees, no matter how difficult the circumstances may be.
