Return with Victory

The previous chapter, 'Message and Destruction', bore witness to the wondrous deeds performed by Hanuman in Lanka. Carrying Mother Sita's message, and having given Lanka a taste of its wickedness, Hanuman was now eager to return to Rama. There was a special glow in the eyes of the son of the wind, born from the satisfaction of a completed task and the longing to see his master.

Return of the Son of the Wind

The ocean waves were kissing Hanuman's colossal body, as if they themselves were singing the saga of his valor. He rose into the sky, like a shining star, astonishing everyone with his speed. In his mind, he envisioned the joy that would appear on Rama's face, and he anticipated the peace that would come from Sita's message. Sugriva and the rest of the monkey army were waiting on the hills of Kishkindha, their eyes fixed on the sky. Their restlessness was evident in their anticipation of Hanuman. They knew that their hope rested solely on Hanuman's success.

Chanting Rama's name in his heart, Hanuman took a long flight, "Rama... Rama... Rama". He thought, "Will I be able to deliver Mother Sita's message properly? Will Rama be pleased with my services?"

Message and Blessing

As soon as Hanuman reached Kishkindha, the monkey army welcomed him with cheers and the blowing of conch shells. Rama and Lakshmana were also excited, and they were extremely pleased to see Hanuman safe. Hanuman humbly bowed at Rama's feet, and then narrated Sita Mata's message. Hearing the description of Sita's pain of separation, Ravana's cruelty, and her unwavering love for Rama, Rama's eyes welled up. He resolved to free Mother Sita soon. Hanuman also handed over the Chudamani given by Sita to Rama, upon seeing which Rama became even more emotional.

Rama was extremely pleased to see Hanuman's skill and devotion. He embraced Hanuman, patted his back, and said, "Hanuman, what you have done was impossible. I am blessed to have a devotee and servant like you. It is by the strength of your devotion and power that we will be able to win this war. You will always reside in my heart." Blessed by Rama's benediction, Hanuman felt as if he had attained the happiness of all three worlds.

Preparation for War

Having received Sita's message and inspired by Hanuman's valor, Rama now began preparations to attack Lanka. The monkey army was enthusiastic, eager to avenge Ravana's atrocities and to free Sita Mata. Rama ordered Sugriva to arrange the army, and he himself began to discuss war strategy with Lakshmana. The time for Lanka's destruction was now near, and the victory of truth was assured.
