Sita Katha – Chapter 8: War and Liberation

War and Liberation
Hanuman's search had proven Sita's existence in Lanka and given Lord Rama's army new hope. Sugriva's Vanara army was now ready to fight against Ravana alongside Rama. Now, for the establishment of Dharma, truth had to triumph over falsehood.
Invasion of Lanka
The Vanara army crossed the ocean and stormed Lanka. The land of Lanka trembled with the roar of the Vanaras and the screams of the Rakshasas. Rama and Lakshmana, with their bows strung, stood at the forefront of the army, the flame of justice burning in their eyes. Nala and Nila built a bridge of stones over which the Vanara army was advancing towards Lanka. The Vanaras broke down the massive gates of Lanka and entered.
Rama said to Lakshmana, "Lakshmana, today in this war, we must eradicate Ravana's unrighteousness. Every tear of Sita, every pain, will be consumed in the fire of this war today." Lakshmana replied, "Brother, your command is my duty. We will fight for Dharma and achieve victory."
Slaying of Ravana
A fierce battle ensued between Rama and Ravana. Ravana, with his ten heads and twenty arms, was a formidable warrior. He used many weapons, but none of them prevailed against Rama's divine arrows. Finally, Rama used the Brahmastra, which pierced Ravana's heart. Ravana, with all his might and ego, fell to the ground. With his death, a wave of sorrow swept through Lanka.
After Ravana's slaying, peace descended upon Sita's heart. Her years of pain and suffering had come to an end. She expressed her gratitude to Rama, who had come to Lanka to liberate her. She knew that it was not just Rama's strength, but his compassion and devotion to Dharma that had defeated Ravana.
Sita's Trial by Fire
After Ravana's slaying, Rama ordered Sita to be brought before him. After many years, Rama and Sita were reunited, but Rama harbored doubts about Sita's purity, as she had been in Ravana's custody for so long. Rama asked Sita to undergo a trial by fire to prove her chastity. Sita entered the fire without any hesitation. The fire did not even touch her, for she was pure and innocent. Agni Deva himself appeared and declared Sita's purity.
Sita's trial by fire proved her purity and immaculate character. This event was a symbol of the power of Dharma and the victory of truth. Sita's patience, courage, and unwavering faith in God will remain a source of inspiration for women in every era. This trial was a symbol of Sita's sacrifice, which she made for Rama's love and honor.
Victory and Preparations for Return
Rama achieved victory over Lanka and made Vibhishana, Ravana's brother, the king of Lanka. Now Rama was preparing to return to Ayodhya with Lakshmana, Sita, and Hanuman. Their return to Ayodhya was the beginning of a new era, where Dharma and justice were to be established. In the next chapter, we will see how Rama returns to Ayodhya with Sita and establishes the kingdom of Dharma.
Summary of Chapter 8: This chapter describes the war between Rama and Ravana, the slaying of Ravana, and Sita's trial by fire. This chapter conveys the message of Dharma's victory over unrighteousness and the establishment of truth, while also highlighting Sita's sacrifice and purity.
