Savitri Satyavan Katha – Chapter 5: Savitri Pursues Yamaraj

Savitri Chases Yamaraja
Yamaraja's Arduous Journey
[Satyavan's lifeless body lay motionless on the ground. A flood of tears welled up in Savitri's eyes, yet she did not lose courage. She saw the radiant Yamaraja, carrying Satyavan's soul, heading towards the south. Yamaraja's form was extremely terrifying, his radiance was as bright as the sun, and his chariot was moving at the speed of time. Savitri knew that this was an impossible task, yet, with unwavering love and faith for Satyavan in her heart, she ran after Yamaraja. Her every step testified to her love, her every breath chanted the rosary of Satyavan's name.]
Savitri prayed in her heart, "O Lord, give me the strength to bring back my husband. My life is incomplete without Satyavan, I cannot live without him." She remembered the teachings of her gurus, resolved to walk on the path of truth, and continued to follow Yamaraja.
Conversation between Savitri and Yamaraja
Savitri replied in a calm voice, "O Yamaraja, I am going with my husband. Where my husband is, there is my life. Dharma says that a wife should follow her husband, and I am following my dharma. I pray to you to let me go with my husband." Yamaraja was impressed by her devotion and fearlessness, but he had to fulfill his duty. He said, "O Savitri, your love is wonderful, but death is inevitable. Satyavan's life is over, and now you cannot bring him back. I can give you a boon, but not Satyavan's life."
Savitri said, "O Yamaraja, if you want to grant me a boon, then grant me the boon that my in-laws regain their lost sight and their kingdom is restored to them." Yamaraja said "Tathastu" (so be it) and moved on. But Savitri still kept following him, her love was not letting her rest, her every step was a question, her every breath was a challenge.
