Kali's Test and Blessing

The king was extremely happy to have his daughter. He duly observed the Satyanarayan Bhagwan Vrat and explained the importance of the Satyanarayan Katha to his subjects as well. However, Kali still had doubts in his mind as to whether this fast could be so fruitful. He decided that he would see whether the devotees of Satyanarayan Bhagwan could escape the influence of Kali or not.

Kali's Illusion

Kali reached the merchant in a terrifying form when he was going towards Ratnapur in his boat. A terrible storm started rising in the sea, the waves were ready to drown the boat. The merchant was terrified. He had never seen such a terrible sight before. His boat was staggering, as if it would capsize at any moment. Darkness spread all around, and the merchant began to see his death near. Fear and despair took hold in his mind.

Trembling with fear, the merchant thought, "O God! What kind of crisis is this? Is there any deficiency in my devotion? I had observed the Satyanarayan Bhagwan Vrat with full devotion. Then why this calamity?" He prayed to God, "O Satyanarayan Bhagwan! Protect me. I promise you that if I survive this crisis, I will propagate your glory even more."

Result of the Test

The storm became even more terrible. Kali attacked the merchant's boat, and the boat began to sink. Kali was thinking that now this devotee of Satyanarayan has been caught in my clutches. He smiled sarcastically. Just then a divine light appeared in the sky. Satyanarayan Bhagwan himself appeared, in his radiant form. He calmed the storm with his divine power and saved the boat from sinking. Kali's influence faded in front of the Lord's radiance.

Satyanarayan Bhagwan said to the merchant, "O devotee! I am pleased with your faith and devotion. Kali had come to test you, but due to the power of your devotion, he could not succeed. Whoever observes my fast with full devotion, even Kali will not be able to harm him. This fast destroys the influence of Kali."

Final Blessing

The merchant bowed to Satyanarayan Bhagwan and thanked him. He completed his journey successfully and reached Ratnapur and praised the glory of the Satyanarayan Vrat. The discussion of this fast started everywhere, and people started living with happiness and prosperity. Peace and happiness came into people's lives due to the influence of Satyanarayan Vrat. Kali also gave up and accepted the power of Satyanarayan Bhagwan. By listening to this story, all the devotees attain happiness, peace and prosperity. In Kali Yuga, Satyanarayan Vrat is the only path to liberation.
