Saraswati's Contribution to Knowledge

In the previous chapter, we saw how the relationship between Mother Saraswati and Lord Brahma was established. As the power of Brahma, Mother Saraswati played a significant role in the creation of the universe. Now, in this chapter, we will see how great has been Mother Saraswati's contribution in the field of knowledge. How she imparted the knowledge of the Vedas, developed arts and music, and spread various disciplines.

The Emergence of the Vedas

Imagine, the creation is in its infancy. There is peace all around, but no light of knowledge. Darkness prevails, and there is no one to show the path of truth to human life. After creating the universe, Lord Brahma realizes that a power is needed to organize and disseminate this knowledge. He is in pain, and he becomes engrossed in deep prayer. At that moment, Mother Saraswati, clad in white, holding a Veena, riding a swan, appears. Her face is radiant with divine light, and her eyes brim with an ocean of compassion and knowledge.

Mother Saraswati said to Lord Brahma, "O Father! I know your concern. I have come only to spread the light of knowledge and reveal the Vedas. I will impart to you the knowledge of the Samaveda, Yajurveda, Rigveda, and Atharvaveda, which will guide humanity."

The Awakening of Arts and Music

Not only did she impart the knowledge of the Vedas, but Mother Saraswati also made wonderful contributions in the fields of arts and music. She taught humans to play the Veena, whose melodious sound filled nature with joy. Painting, dance, and other arts also developed, giving new dimensions to the expression of beauty and emotions in human life. Bhajans and Kirtans began to be sung in temples, paving the way for devotion.

Once, a poor boy, who could not speak, came to the temple of Mother Saraswati. He drew a picture to express his pain at the feet of the Mother. Mother Saraswati saw the picture and showered her grace upon the boy. Immediately, the boy's voice returned, and he sang a beautiful song in praise of the Mother. Impressed by that song, others were also drawn towards music and art.

The Spread of Disciplines

Not just the Vedas and arts, Mother Saraswati also spread various disciplines like astrology, mathematics, Ayurveda, and logic. She imparted knowledge to scholars, enabling them to advance these disciplines. Gurukuls were established, where disciples received education from gurus. With the blessings of Mother Saraswati, India became a center of knowledge. Students came from far and wide to gain education here.

Once, a king was worried about making his kingdom prosperous. He worshipped Mother Saraswati, and the Mother gave him knowledge of politics and economics. The king used that knowledge to make his kingdom prosperous and just. Thus, Mother Saraswati established the importance of knowledge not only in personal life but also in social and political life. Her blessings always remain with those who are dedicated to truth, knowledge, and art. This knowledge continued to shine for ages.
