Samudra Manthan Story – Chapter 9: Victory of Truth

Victory of Truth
That fierce battle for nectar, which had shaken heaven and the underworld, was now in its final stages. In this devastating battle between the gods and the demons, Lord Vishnu in his Mohini form had taken possession of the nectar pot. Everyone was apprehensive about whether those who walk the path of truth would get their reward or not.
Distribution of Nectar
Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini seated the gods and demons in separate rows. Her beauty was unique; there was a wonderful charm in her gait, due to which the demons were also mesmerized and ready to do anything to get the nectar. A ray of hope was shining on the faces of the gods, but flames of anger and greed were burning in the eyes of the demons. There was a reverberation of mantras in the air, and everyone was eager for a drop of nectar. The gods maintained patience with full faith in Lord Vishnu, while the demons became impatient and started fighting among themselves.
Vishnu in the form of Mohini first went to the row of gods and started giving them nectar one by one. Every god was getting satisfied, new energy was being transmitted in their body. Indradev was filled with joy, he thanked Lord Vishnu in his mind. "O Lord, may your grace always be upon us," Indradev prayed. "You are the protector of truth and righteousness."
Rahu's Deceit
Among the demons, an Asura named Rahu, disguised as a god, secretly sat in the row of gods. As Vishnu in the form of Mohini approached him with the nectar pot, he recognized him. But, before Vishnu could do anything, Rahu drank a drop of nectar. At the same moment, the Sun God and the Moon God alerted Vishnu about Rahu's deceit.
As soon as Rahu drank the nectar, Lord Vishnu severed his head from his torso with his Sudarshan Chakra. A few drops of nectar had gone down Rahu's throat, due to which his head became immortal, but the torso could not become immortal. Since then, Rahu's head came to be known as Rahu and the torso as Ketu. This incident shows that the object obtained by deceit and fraud is never permanent, and the path of truth is ultimately victorious. By the grace of Lord Vishnu, the gods got nectar, and they became immortal.
Defeat of the Demons and Establishment of Dharma
After being deprived of nectar, the demons went mad with anger. They attacked the gods again, but now the gods had the strength of nectar, and they were more powerful to face the demons. The gods defeated the demons and drove them out of heaven. The war ended, and peace was re-established in heaven.
Lord Vishnu appeared in his real form and blessed the gods. He said, "Truth, righteousness, and justice are always victorious. Those who resort to deceit and fraud ultimately get defeated." There was an assurance in his voice, a promise that whenever there is a crisis on Dharma, he will definitely incarnate and protect the truth. The gods bowed at the feet of Lord Vishnu and expressed their gratitude. They believed that without the grace of Lord Vishnu, this victory would not have been possible.
Summary of Chapter 9: This chapter describes the victory of truth. The gods receive nectar, Rahu's deceit is exposed, and the demons are defeated. This story teaches us that the object obtained by deceit and fraud is temporary, while the path of truth is always victorious.
