Sage Valmiki described the importance of Pran Pratishtha and devotional worship of Lord Purushottam's idol, through which the devotee attains all happiness and salvation. Sage Valmiki...

Valmiki Muni described the importance of consecrating life into the idol of Lord Purushottam and worshiping with devotion, by which the devotee attains all happiness and salvation.

Valmiki Muni said - After this, perform the act of igniting the talent again and consecrate life into the idol. Otherwise, if life is not consecrated, that idol will only be called metal, meaning it does not contain the essence of the deity.

By touching both foreheads of the idol with the right hand, definitely consecrate life into that idol of Lord Hari. By not consecrating life into the idols, the value of gold etc. remains the same as before, the deities do not reside in them.

O Parthiva! Life should be consecrated in the idol of other deities as well for the attainment of divinity.

It should be done with the seed mantra of Lord Purushottam and with the mantra "Tad Vishnu Paramam Padam Sada", the knower of mantras should continuously place his thumb on the heart of the idol in the same way and consecrate life into the heart with these mantras. May life be consecrated in this idol, may life be activated in this idol. May divinity be attained for the worship of this idol, Swaha, in this way, while reciting the Yajur mantra, consecrate life into all the idols with the root mantras, limb mantras, and Vedic mantras, or by joining hands at the end of the Chaturthyanta name mantras with Swaha, remembering the respective deities well.

After consecrating life in this way, meditate on Shri Purushottam. Meditate on Lord Purushottam with Radha, who has the Srivatsa mark on his chest, is peaceful, has a complexion like a blue lotus petal, and is beautiful due to his three-fold bending form.

After stating the place and time, i.e., after making a resolution, being in a state of discipline, being silent, being pure, worship Lord Purushottam with sixteen types of offerings.

O Lord! O Lord of Lords! O Krishna! O Purushottam! Along with Radha, please accept the worship offered by me here. Salutations to Lord Purushottam along with Shri Radhika. Saying this, invoke him. O Lord of Lords! O Purushottam! Please accept this seat adorned with many jewels, i.e., studded and decorated with Kartsvara (gold). Saying this, offer the seat. Please accept this water, brought with prayers from all the pilgrimages like Ganga, for washing the feet. Saying this, offer the water for washing the feet.

O Hari! For the joy of the Gopis, you appeared in the house of Maharaj Nand Gop, please accept the Arghya offered by me along with Radhika. Saying this, offer the Arghya.

O Hrishikesh! That is, O master of the senses! O Purana-Purushottam! Please accept the Achamana with the Ganga water brought well and placed in a golden pot. Saying this, offer the Achamana.

O Hari! By worshiping you, the creator of the world, along with Radhika, with the Panchamrita brought by me, may my tasks be accomplished.

O giver of joy to Radhika! Please accept these substances: milk, yogurt, cow's ghee, honey, and sugar. Saying this, offer the bath with Panchamrita.

O Lord! Salutations to Yogeshwar, Dev, the one who holds the Govardhan mountain, the Lord of sacrifices, Lord Govind.

O Krishna! This water, given by me, is like the water of the river Ganga. O giver of joy to Nand! Please accept it. Saying this, offer the bath again.

O Lord! I have offered these two yellow garments with devotion for the accomplishment of all tasks. O best of the gods! Please accept them. Saying this, offer the clothes and offer Achamana after wearing the clothes.

O Damodar! Salutations to you, protect me from this ocean of existence. O Purushottam! Please accept the sacred thread along with the upper garment. Saying this, offer the sacred thread and offer Achamana.

O best of the gods! This extremely beautiful, fragrant, divine, Shri Khanda sandalwood paste is for you, please accept it. Saying this, offer the sandalwood paste.

O best of the gods! I have offered these beautiful Akshatas (unbroken rice grains) colored with saffron with devotion, O Purushottam! Please accept them. Saying this, offer the Akshatas.

O Lord! I have brought these fragrant flowers like Malati for your worship. Please accept them. Saying this, offer the flowers. After this, worship the limbs. Son of Nand-Yashoda, the one who killed the Keshi demon, the one who relieved the burden of the earth, the one who assumes the infinite form of Vishnu, Pradyumna, Aniruddha, Shrikantha, Sakalastradhrik, Vachaspati, Keshava, and Sarvatma, with these names. By taking flowers in hands and reciting the Chaturthyanta names, worship the Lord, the master of the universe, the universal form, of the feet, ankles, knees, thighs, waist, genitals, navel, heart, throat, arms, and face, eyes, head, and all limbs. After worshiping each limb in this way, then with the Chaturthyanta Keshava etc. name mantras..

..By taking one flower in hand, worship Lord Purushottam. This incense, made from the essence of divine plants, filled with fragrance, is the best fragrance, worthy of being smelled by all the gods, please accept it. Saying this, offer the incense.

O Lord! You are the light of all the gods, the best of lights, please accept this lamp, the supreme abode of self-illumination. Saying this, offer the lamp.

O Lord! Accept the Naivedya (food offering) and make my devotion unwavering. Grant the desired boon and grant the best state in the afterlife. Saying this, offer the Naivedya. Offer water in the middle. Finally, offer the Achamana water.

O Hrishikesh! O reliever of the ailments of the three worlds! I have brought Ganga water in a golden pot, please perform Achamana with this water. Saying this, offer the Achamana.

O Lord! I have placed this fruit in front of you, therefore, may I attain beautiful fruits in every birth. Saying this, offer the Shriphal (wood apple).

O Lord! O Supreme God! Please accept this Karodvartan (cleansing paste for the hands) containing fragrance, camphor, and scented with musk etc. Saying this, offer the Karodvartan.

O Lord! Please accept this Tambula (betel leaf) containing betel nut, along with camphor, beautiful, offered with devotion. Saying this, offer the Tambula.

Please accept the gold that is situated in the womb of Brahma, the seed of fire, the giver of the fruit of infinite merit, and grant me peace. Saying this, offer the Dakshina (donation).

I perform the Aarti of Lord Hari along with Radhika, who is as dark as an autumn lotus, beautiful with a three-fold bending form, the Lord of Lords. Saying this, offer the Nirajan (Aarti).

O Jagannath! Protect, protect. O Lord of the three worlds! Protect. May you be kind to the devotees. Please accept my circumambulation. Saying this, offer the circumambulation.

Salutations to Yagneshwar, Dev, the cause of Yagya, the Lord of Yagyas, Lord Govind. Saying this, offer the Mantra Pushpanjali (offering of flowers with mantras).

Salutations, salutations to Vishveshwar, Vishwaroop, the creator of the universe, the Lord of the universe, Nath, Lord Govind. Saying this, offer the salutations.

By the mantra "Mantraheenam Kriyaheenam", after offering forgiveness to Lord Purushottam, perform Havan (fire sacrifice) with sesame seeds daily with the Swahanta name mantras. For the entire month of Purushottam, offer an unbroken lamp of ghee for the accomplishment of all fruits and for the pleasure of Lord Purushottam. Yasya Smritya Cha Namoktya Tapoyagyakriyadishu. After saluting Lord Janardan with this mantra, complete whatever deficiencies may have remained with the mantra 'Pramadat Kurvatam Karma.' and live happily.

In this way, the person who, after attaining a human body on this earth and upon the arrival of the month of Purushottam, makes a Vaishnava Brahmin his Acharya (teacher) and worships Shri Purushottam, who has a complexion like a cloud, along with Radha, with joy and devotion every day, will enjoy all the incomparable pleasures of this earth and then attain the supreme state.

Thus ends the twenty-first chapter in the Shri Brihannaradiya Purana, Purushottam Maas Mahatmya ॥21॥
