Chapter 6 of Karna Danveer Katha — Kunti's prayer to Karna. Before the war, Kunti meets Karna and asks him to side with the Pandavas, but Karna refuses due to his loyalty to Duryodhana.

Kunti's Prayer to Karna

After losing his divine armor and earrings through Indra's deception, Karna was lost in deep contemplation. His mind was entangled in a dilemma regarding the consequences of the war and the adherence to his dharma. Amidst this turmoil, an unexpected visitor came to meet him – his mother, Kunti.

Meeting on the Banks of the Ganges

It was sunset. On the banks of the river Ganges, Karna was performing his evening prayers. The reddish rays lent a divine radiance to his powerful physique. The atmosphere was calm and solemn, as if nature itself was awaiting a profound conversation. Kunti, frail with old age and worry, slowly approached Karna. Her face bore a mixture of affection and pain. The pallu of her sari fluttered in the wind, as if in prayer.

Kunti's voice was soft, yet clear: "Son Karna?" She paused for a moment. "May I speak with you?" Karna broke his meditation and looked at his mother in surprise. Memories suppressed for years awakened in an instant. A strange stir arose in his heart – a complex mixture of anger, affection, and surprise. "Mother? How are you here?" Karna asked humbly.

Urging Karna to Join the Pandavas

Kunti, revealing her sorrow, said to Karna, "O generous donor, I have come to tell you a truth, a truth that can change your future. Karna, you are my eldest son. You are the brother of the Pandavas!" This announcement struck Karna like a thunderbolt. He was speechless. Kunti continued, "I implore you, do not fight against your brothers Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva in the war. Become the sixth Pandava and help establish dharma." Kunti's voice was filled with compassion. She reminded him of the hardships of Karna's childhood and urged him to start a new life together with his brothers.

The Sun God, who was Karna's protector and guide, was spreading his radiance in the sky, as if supporting Kunti's words. Karna felt that the Sun God was telling him: "Choose the path of dharma, son. Listen to your mother. This is your duty." But Karna's dilemma deepened further. How could he break his promise to Duryodhana? Could he betray his friend, who had stood by him through every crisis?

Karna's Vow and the Future's Direction

Karna took a deep breath and said to Kunti, "Mother, I understand your pain and accept your truth. However, I cannot break the promise I made to Duryodhana. I will fight on the side of the Kauravas. But I promise you that I will not kill any Pandava except Arjuna. I will keep four of your five sons alive. This is my vow." Tears welled up in Kunti's eyes. She knew that Karna's word was unshakeable. She was content that at least four of her sons would survive. This compromise was leading them towards a bitter future, where Karna and Arjuna would have to fight against each other – a war that would prove destructive for both.

Summary of Chapter 6: In this chapter, we saw Kunti meeting Karna and urging him to join the Pandavas. Despite being torn between loyalty and dharma, Karna promises Kunti that he will not kill any Pandava other than Arjuna.
