Kaliya Naag Daman Katha – Chapter 3: The Leap into the Yamuna

Leap into the Yamuna
In the previous chapter, we saw how the Yamuna River had become polluted by the poison of Kaliya Nag, and the people of Braj were suffering. Krishna, who was displaying his divine play, now decided to remove this crisis. The poison of the Yamuna had become death for the people of Braj, and only Krishna had the power to stop this death.
Invocation in the Poisonous Water
There was chaos on the banks of the Yamuna. The Gopis were crying with their children, the cows were restless with thirst, and the land of Braj was withering. The rays of the sun falling on the poisonous water of the Yamuna looked even more frightening. Krishna saw despair in everyone's eyes and his heart was filled with compassion. He resolved in his mind that today he would purify this Yamuna again, and quench the throats of the people of Braj again.
Krishna looked at Balram and said with a gentle smile, "Balram Bhaiya, look, Yamuna Maiya is so sad. We have to relieve her pain. I will go and free her now." Balram understood what Krishna was going to do, he just nodded in agreement. There was a divine light in Krishna's eyes, as if he was challenging Kaliya Nag.
Kaliya Nag's Anger
Without any fear, Krishna climbed the tall Kadamba tree and played his flute. The sweet sound of the flute was like a challenge to the poisonous water of the Yamuna. Then, a leap! Krishna jumped into the Yamuna. His body was shining in blue color, as if Narayan himself had descended into the Yamuna. As soon as he fell into the water, a terrible roar was heard. Kaliya Nag hissed in anger.
The water of the Yamuna began to boil, the waves began to rise high. Kaliya Nag appeared spreading his five hoods, his eyes were red with anger. He challenged Krishna, "Who are you, who dares to enter my kingdom? Don't you know that I am Kaliya, the king of snakes? Your death has come!" Krishna replied with a laugh, "I have only come to serve Yamuna Maiya, Kaliya. You are getting angry for no reason."
The Beginning of a Terrible War
Kaliya Nag started showering poison on Krishna, hissing. Krishna neutralized that poison with his divine play. Then, Kaliya attacked Krishna with his hoods. Krishna easily foiled his attacks. A terrible war broke out between the two. The water of the Yamuna became blood-stained, the waves rose high as if touching the sky. The people of Braj were standing on the shore trembling with fear, but they had full faith in Krishna. They knew that only Krishna could save them from this crisis. In the next chapter, we will see how Krishna forces Kaliya Nag to dance.
Summary of Chapter 3: Krishna jumps into the poisonous water of the Yamuna, Kaliya Nag gets angry, and a terrible war begins between the two. In this chapter, Krishna's fearless and compassionate nature is revealed, as well as the message that one should be ready to face any challenge to protect truth and righteousness.
