Draupadi Vastraharan Katha – Chapter 4: Krishna's Intervention and Miraculous Garment

Krishna's Intervention and the Miraculous Garment
The silence pervading the assembly seemed to herald the arrival of a terrible storm. The hesitant silence of Bhishma Pitamah and the helpless screams of Draupadi made the atmosphere even more terrifying. All protectors of dharma and justice seemed to have closed their eyes, and only the cry of a helpless woman echoed.
Draupadi's Anguished Cry
Draupadi had reached the extreme of helplessness and humiliation. Tears streamed down her face, and her heart was torn with anguish. She cast a despairing glance around, seeing no one to offer her support. Her own husbands, who were symbols of strength and valor, sat in silence.
Just then, Draupadi, drowning in a sea of despair, remembered her beloved, Dwarkadhish Krishna. She cried out from her heart, "O Govinda! O Dwarkadhish! O Krishna! Save my honor, save me from this humiliation. I have no one; you are my only refuge!" Her voice was filled with compassion and devotion. Every breath she took chanted Krishna's name. She knew that only He could protect her.
The Failed Attempt at Disrobing
Dushasana, as ordered by Duryodhana, began to pull at Draupadi's garment. He exerted all his strength to succeed in his wicked attempt. There was fear and supplication in Draupadi's eyes, but her faith was unwavering. As soon as Dushasana pulled the garment, a miracle occurred.
Invisibly, Krishna began to extend Draupadi's garments in countless layers. Dushasana kept pulling, pulling, but the garment showed no sign of ending. He grew tired, began to pant, but Draupadi's garment continued to grow. Everyone present in the assembly was astonished to witness this wondrous sight. Duryodhana was burning with anger, and his conspiracy was being torn to shreds. The power of dharma was triumphing over adharma. By Krishna's grace, Draupadi's garment continued to grow and grow, and Dushasana sat down in shame. All his strength was in vain.
The Flame of Anger and the Birth of a Vow
Yudhishthira's head bowed in shame as Draupadi's disrobing was thwarted, but the flame of anger ignited in Bhima's heart. In that very assembly, he vowed that he would tear open Dushasana's chest and drink his blood. Bhima's anger and vow would become the foundation of the Mahabharata war. This vow marked the end of the Pandavas' patience and the unveiling of their wrath, which would be seen in the next chapter.
Summary of Chapter 4: In this chapter, we saw how Draupadi called out to Lord Krishna in a time of crisis, and Krishna, with His grace, thwarted the attempt to disrobe Draupadi. The lesson from this event is that with true devotion and faith, God always protects His devotees, no matter how adverse the circumstances may be.
