Royal Obstacles Arise

In the previous chapter, we witnessed the unwavering faith of devotee Mai Das and his devotion to Mata Chintpurni. Mai Das's life was dedicated to the love and service of the Mother. The glory of his devotion began to spread far and wide, but fate had something else in store. Royal obstacles were now about to enter Mai Das's life, eager to test him.

The King's Envy

The king of that region became very envious of Mai Das's growing fame. The king felt that Mai Das's popularity was diminishing his royal honor. His subjects were beginning to show more respect to Mai Das, and this was gnawing at the king from within. Mai Das was being discussed everywhere in the royal palace, which wounded the king's ego. The king began to think about how to stop Mai Das's increasing glory. The flames of anger blazed in his eyes, and his mind was filled with envy.

“This Mai Das! By whose permission is he gaining so much fame? Is he greater than me? He is merely a servant, and I am the king of this kingdom!” the king said angrily. “I must do something immediately, or this Mai Das will alienate my subjects from me. I will show him by creating obstacles in the temple construction, only then will he know his place.”

Obstacles in Temple Construction

Mai Das had begun the construction of the temple of Mata Chintpurni. Devotees were engaged in service day and night. But the king ordered obstacles to be placed in the temple construction. Royal soldiers arrived at the construction site and stopped the work. The laborers were intimidated and forced to abandon their work. Mai Das was very saddened to see this, but he did not lose his patience. He had unwavering faith in the Mother in his heart, and he knew that the Mother would protect him. A atmosphere of despair spread throughout the region.

Even after the temple construction stopped, Mai Das continued his prayers. He pleaded with Mata Chintpurni, “O Mother! This temple is your abode, a symbol of your grace. The king is obstructing it out of ignorance. O Mother! Show the path of truth with your power. Protect me, Mother, O Chintpurni!”

Mai Das's Prayer and the Mother's Intervention

Mai Das dedicated day and night to his prayers. Everyone was astonished by his devotion and sacrifice. He prayed to the Mother to bestow good sense upon the king and remove the obstacles in the temple construction. His prayer had so much power that it reached Mata Chintpurni directly. The Mother heard the devotee's call and decided to intervene divinely. Compassion for Mai Das welled up in the Mother's heart. It was a time of testing for Mai Das, but the Mother could not leave him alone. In the next chapter, we will see how Mata Chintpurni protects her devotee Mai Das with her power and shows the king the path of truth.
