Chintpurni Mata Katha – Chapter 1: Devotee Mai Das's Devotion

Devotee Mai Das's Devotion
After Goddess Sati's self-immolation, Lord Shiva's anger showed no signs of subsiding. His Tandava was shaking the entire creation. At such a time, a miraculous event was about to unfold in a small village nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, which would later become world-renowned as a Shakti Peeth. This is the story of devotee Mai Das, whose unwavering devotion paved the way for the establishment of Chintpurni Dham.
Mai Das's Birth and Early Life
In the serene valleys of Himachal Pradesh, in a small village, Mai Das was born into a Brahmin family. The greenery of the village and the height of the mountains brought peace to his mind. From childhood, his mind was not inclined towards worldly pleasures but was engrossed in devotion to the Lord. His eyes were always searching for a divine light, as if some unseen force was drawing him towards it. The elders of the village were amazed by his calm and serious nature.
One day, Mai Das asks his mother, "Mother, what is the purpose of life? Why is this world so full of sorrows?" His mother replied, "Son, the purpose of life is to attain the Lord. Sorrow is the illusion that keeps us away from the Lord. True liberation comes only through sincere devotion." This sank deep into Mai Das's young mind. From then on, he decided to dedicate his life to devotion to the Lord.
Deep Devotion to the Mother Goddess
Mai Das gradually grew older, but his devotion increased day by day. He would remain absorbed in meditation for hours and sing praises of the Mother Goddess. His voice would resonate with hymns to the Mother Goddess. His devotion was so powerful that the surrounding atmosphere also became pure. People bowed to him with reverence, witnessing his devotion and sacrifice. Seeing his devotion, the faith of the villagers in the Mother Goddess also grew.
One night, Mai Das saw a divine Goddess in his dream. The Goddess appeared to him and said, "Mai Das, I am pleased with your devotion. I will reside on this earth in the form of Chintpurni. You find me and establish my abode." Mai Das's heart was filled with joy. He decided to set out in search of the Mother that very moment.
Search and Establishment of Chintpurni Place
As per the Mother Goddess's command, Mai Das left his home in search of the Chintpurni place. He wandered through forests, mountains, and rivers, searching for that place. His faith and belief guided him. Finally, one day, he found a wonderful place, where the atmosphere was filled with peace and purity all around. He realized that this was the place where the Mother Goddess had appeared to him, and here Chintpurni Dham was to be established.
Mai Das installed the idol of the Mother Goddess at that place and began his worship. Gradually, the glory of that place spread far and wide, and people began to come to Chintpurni to fulfill their desires. By the grace of Mother Chintpurni, the sorrows of devotees began to disappear, and their wishes were fulfilled. Mai Das dedicated his entire life to the service of Mother Chintpurni. Even today, people remember him with reverence due to his devotion and sacrifice. However, as the fame of Chintpurni Dham grew, some royal obstacles began to arise, which were to test Mai Das and his devotees. Now, it remains to be seen how Mai Das faces these obstacles and whether the abode of Mother Chintpurni remains safe or not.
