Today's Brahma Muhurat

1 September 2026 · Tuesday
04:33 AM – 05:21 AM

What is Brahma Muhurat?

Brahma Muhurat begins about 96 minutes (one and a half muhurtas) before sunrise and ends about 48 minutes before sunrise. It is considered the purest, most sattvic part of the day — best for meditation, japa, study and worship.

How is it calculated?

It is the second part of the last quarter of the night. In practice it is counted backwards from the time of sunrise, so it differs slightly every day and by city.

What to do at this time

Waking, bathing, meditation, pranayama, japa of the Gayatri or one's ishta mantra, self-study, and offering arghya to the sun are all considered auspicious in Brahma Muhurat, when the mind is calm and focused.

Points to keep in mind

Avoid heavy food, going back to deep sleep, and negative thoughts during Brahma Muhurat. This window is for sadhana; a separate muhurat is chosen for starting new worldly work.

⚠️ This information is based on traditional panchang calculations and is meant as general guidance. For important ceremonies such as marriage or Griha Pravesh, please confirm the muhurat with a qualified pandit or acharya. Timings can shift slightly by city as sunrise and sunset differ.
