Today's Abhijit Muhurat
What is Abhijit Muhurat?
Abhijit Muhurat is a roughly 48-minute window centred on solar midday — about 24 minutes before and after local noon. It is regarded as the most auspicious muhurat of the day and is said to calm most of the doshas present in a chosen time.
How is it calculated?
The daytime from sunrise to sunset is divided into 15 muhurtas; the eighth, which straddles midday, is Abhijit. Its exact clock time shifts with the length of the day and by city.
Which activities it suits
When no other auspicious muhurat is available for a task, Abhijit Muhurat may be used for starting a journey, new work, opening a shop or business, buying a vehicle, Griha Pravesh, puja and Namkaran.
Points to keep in mind
By tradition Abhijit Muhurat is not taken on Wednesday, and it is also avoided for journeys towards the south. For important work, also check the other limbs of the panchang (tithi, nakshatra, yoga).
⚠️ This information is based on traditional panchang calculations and is meant as general guidance. For important ceremonies such as marriage or Griha Pravesh, please confirm the muhurat with a qualified pandit or acharya. Timings can shift slightly by city as sunrise and sunset differ.
